What is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolate is a purified form of cannabidiol (CBD) from which all other compounds of the hemp plant are removed, including delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid responsible for the mind altering “high” feeling often associated with cannabis use. Compared to full-spectrum CBD and broad-spectrum CBD, which each have low levels of multiple cannabinoids in addition to CBD, CBD isolate is a single molecule material that may share many of the same benefits.
How does CBD Isolate work?
Research suggests that plant-based cannabinoids like CBD isolate interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for regulating many physiological processes, including appetite, pain and immune response, explains Ohebshalom. Cannabinoids work in the human body by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the ECS called CB1 and CB2 receptors. These interactions can help regulate the body’s central nervous system, emotional response and immune response, among other functions.
How is CBD Isolate made?
Isolate, like all our CBD products, is derived from locally sourced Colorado-grown hemp. The hemp is processed in a CO2 extraction machine, yielding a cleaner oil compared to less expensive, solvent-based extraction methods such as alcohol. The CO2 crude oil is rich in CBD, minor cannabinoids CBG, CBN, CBC, and THC, terpenes, chlorophyll, lipids, and plant waxes.
The first two steps in isolating CBD from the crude extract are winterization and decarboxylation. Winterization removes lipids and plant waxes and decarboxylation converts the CBDa to CBD by heat and time. Winterized oil then goes through a triple pass fractional distillation process to remove chlorophyll, terpenes, and undesirable contaminants. Fractional distillation also allows for the concentration and separation of CBD from other minor cannabinoids.
The concentrated CBD fraction is then mixed with a non-polar solvent in a reactor. The solution is heated and cooled to precipitate out pure CBD in crystal form, the same way sugar precipitates out of water when making rock candy. The CBD precipitate is then washed with the same non-polar solvent in the reactor to purify the CBD of any contaminants. At this point the oil has converted to powder, which is placed into a vacuum oven for 48 hours to purge the isolate of all solvents that were used in the isolation process. The result is 99 percent pure solvent-free CBD isolate.
Which is Better: CBD Isolate or CBD Distillate?
Consumers seeking all the benefits of CBD, whether it be treating anxiety or inflammation, without also consuming other cannabinoids should seek out CBD isolate infused products.
Some consumers are sensitive to THC, have adverse effects or need to avoid consumption of THC in any amount due to work-mandated drug testing. For those that do not have negative effects or concerns of consuming very small amounts of THC, full-spectrum distillates might provide more relief that isolate CBD. Full-spectrum distillate has the greatest effectiveness of these products due to the different cannabinoids working together synergistically. This is often referred to as the “entourage effect.” Users reap the benefits of CBD as well as all other cannabinoids naturally present in the Cannabis sativa plant, including a very small amount of THC. Although it is very small in concentration, it’s important to be mindful when choosing your extract. Research is relatively sparse regarding the therapeutic benefits of CBG, when compared to the apparent wealth of information available on THC and CBD but there are early studies linking the compound to a whole host of potential therapeutic uses, such as treating glaucoma, decreasing inflammation and killing drug-resistant bacteria. CBN reduces intraocular pressure in the eye, so it can be used in the treatment of glaucoma. CBN also fights free radicals in the bloodstream, and it performs similarly to THC in pain reduction treatments.
Does CBD Isolate get you high?
Not at all. Unlike CBD Distillate, CBD Isolate is pure CBD and contains no traces of THC. You can consume this product without worrying about accidentally getting high!

How much is an average dose?

Hi there - the CBD distillate contains 99.9% pure CBD. The average dose will dependent on the individual but we recommend starting with 100mg and working up to see what dosage works best for you.

Great for use in body butter
Better than previous batches, pre-milled for a start , but it seemed to dissolve better sublingually and without as strong a flavour, and lacked the shade of raw cotton that older batches had. I was encouraged to see the certificate from the testing lab earlier this year, but that it had not been updated since December is hopefully just an oversight. Still the best deal around that I’ve found for this essential, so it still gets 5 stars.
I just had a great experience at Kush Buddy. These people are amazing to deal with and friendly. I used the Post Office for delivery. With the larger 0.5g/night doses required to alleviate PTSD induced night terrors, using CBD isolate would be completely unaffordable to us if it weren’t for this awesome product at this awesome price from the wonderful peeps at Kush Buddy.
It grinds easily in a pestle and mortar producing a very light, fluffy, if not entirely flavourless powder.
We’ve been using it for over a year now, and while the night terrors may well always be there, they are much less frequent, and so much more manageable now.
NOTE: the dosage mentioned above is what works for us, and it wasn’t our starting dose.
